Early morning wake up call!

So it’s just gone 2pm and I’m still not flagging, I thought I might be by now as I was up at 4.30am in readiness for the Formula 1 qualifying at Suzuka, Japan. What a dramatic session! I have never seen so many red flags come out. In fairness, they were completely justified, there were some bad crashes taking place – especially Timo Glock. Hope he can recover soon, will be gutting to miss the race in front of the home crowd for Toyota.

Having seen how the qualifying panned out, and all the subsequent penalties being imposed, I am really looking forward to the race tomorrow. Hopefully Lewis can bring home another win to show the McLaren critics that the car is finally coming good. I think out of all the Kers cars, McLaren have really got to grips with the technology and the car (and Lewis) is going brilliantly.

As much as I’d like to see Button take the F1 title – one Briton to another, one #22 car to another, I honestly think Rubens has got the better form in the later stages of the season. Now I do hope that I haven’t just jinxed him by saying that as I’d really like to see him do well. After a record breaking number of races contested it would be great to finish the season with the highest reward, the Formula 1 world drivers’ title.

So with only three races left, Suzuka, Interlagos and the season finale in Abu Dhabi who knows which way the title will go, will there be more surprises in store as Vettel comes from behind to sneak up on the title.

Whatever the outcome it will be the cherry on the top of one of the best ever Formula one seasons, only being topped by 1996 when my racing hero Damon Hill took the title in Suzuka, and 2008 when my new racing hero Lewis Hamilton won his title in only his second season in Formula one after missing out by 1 point after leading the title race in his rookie year right up until the last race in Brazil.

I hope you will all join me in watching the closing races of the season and be equally as excited to see who will be crowned Lewis Hamilton’s successor as F1 World Champion!

Gripping stuff!
